The role is based within the South Managed Procurement Services team at Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC). CPC is a purchasing consortium, owned and overseen by the Further Education sector. CPC provides purchasing frameworks, dynamic purchasing systems and procurement consultancy services for schools, academies, colleges, universities and other educational organisations.


Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for offering a pro-active and comprehensive service, advising on all aspects of procurement.  You will take full management responsibility for client accounts including the timeliness, and quality of procurement exercises, including conducting exercises personally where appropriate. Leading your team, you will set priorities, support, and provide leadership on the process for procuring contracts for a variety of categories, projects, and services for clients. You will support the development and delivery of the company strategic procurement programme.


This role will contribute to embedding best practice, efficiency and effectiveness within procurement processes and decisions, ensuring compliance with current PCR’s and future UK legal obligations. You will assist the company to achieve value for money and savings targets for our clients and support the team to provide outstanding procurement services to all clients and members. You will be responsible for the full operational and strategic management of the Procurement team allocated to you. You will drive a high performing, engaged team to deliver the procurement strategic objectives whilst balancing value delivery for our customers with company commercials.

Job requirements

Person Specification

We seek a candidate who has extensive procurement experience within the public sector. Ideally, you will have a detailed working knowledge of public sector procurement legislation, experience of working in the education sector and experience in managing a small team of direct reports. If you are a skilled and experienced procurement professional with the ability to deliver all aspects of this role, then we would love to hear from you.


Salary and benefits

In return for your dedication to the role you will receive a salary of up to £25,750 (£51,500 FTE) dependant on experience.  Additionally, you will be joining a charity which offers:

  • 38 days holiday (including Christmas holiday closure and bank holidays).
  • Yearly performance related bonuses of up to £3,500 FTE.
  • Agile, flexible and remote working. This position is mainly home based but with regular visits to our clients and your team across the Southern region as required.
